Some of the awards Zakaria has won has been with a startup that was voted one of the hottest startups in Sweden 2012 by Internetworld. Also he won Arctic15 Best New Recruit Category in the Nordic and Baltic countries. Born in Somalia, living in Sweden since the age of 1½. Finished school in Stockholm but then decided to explore the world outside Sweden and moved to UK to study medicine for five years. During university studies she had the opportunity to travel to Kenya with the charity group Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP), after a year of fundraising. This experience opened her eyes when she saw poverty and inequality. She decided that she wanted to give fellow Somalis the same opportunity but in Somalia. To be able to contribute and share your skills and knowledge to the war torn country of my parents. That is when she decided to initiate the journey of SAVE - Somali Awareness through Volunteering and Education. An organization to use as a platform for like minded educated Swede-Somalis that had the passion and interest to contribute to Somalia and Somalis in their community. Within a few years they got involved in various projects in Somalia such as Ramadan Relief project and Gift of Education. They also engaged our community by arranging various inspirational nights where we talked about education by using their own human resource. Now, she work as a doctor in Eskilstuna where currently live and hoping in continuing with my contribution to both communities, Sweden and to Somalia.
