Breaking Barriers - Demand Goals - Amina Jama

The objective of the proposed workshop is to facilitate a discussion on how to identify barriers in your life; cultural, career, educational and how to overcome them. The workshop adopts a participatory empowerment approach where active participation of all attendees is a pre-requisite.

The workshop will focus on encouraging the participation and involvement of young people on the migration and integration debate and show concrete ways to do so. FORES offers trainee positions each semester, we offer students to write their thesis (master or bachelor level) with the support from our staff and promise of publication, and last but not the least we organize the contest "Your answer" together with the well known web site Sverigesresurser. The winner gets to meet the minister of integration during a lunch and talk about his or hers vision of Swedish society and integration policy.

Your answer - FORES as a platform for young voices in the debate on integration - Anna Rehnvall

Timbuktu will tell his story growing up with a minority background in Sweden and how he was able to overcome the challenges to achieve his goals as a musician.

Lobbying Skills - Mike Waldron

Focus on the theme "Getting your message across", this workshop will give participants the opportunity to consider the elements that make for a successful grass roots campaign, and to deploy some key messaging techniques in relation to campaigns.

The Modern Somali-American - Kadra Abdi

This workshop will discuss the dichotomy of traditional norms and modern social norms and how they are reconciled day to day in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Kadra will also share stories about efforts to engage community members as active participants in creating solutions to community concerns.

Help Increase the Peace (HIPP) - Rakia Bihi

This workshop will discuss the international recognized approach to conflict resolution which will engage the participants in two themed modules 1) identity and 2) conflict resolution. 

Woman2Woman Diaspora Action Group - Fozia Slone

Fozia will discuss community development and advocating as it relates to refuges, youth and women. The workshop will cover both the opportunities and challenges on integration in the Swedish labour market and the identity issues that lay at the heart of integration.

Anwar will present the entrepreneurial skills that were needed to help him open his own law firm and how entrepreneurialism is such a unique tool personal success as well as social integration.

 Saido Mohamed (Finnish Politician and Activist)

Saido has 15 years’ experience with migrants and youth and is an elected politician in Finland. She will discuss the importance of voluntary work and civic involvement.

Ayaan and Idyl are fashion designers in New York, USA. They will discuss their motivation for fashion and how they were able to break into the fashion world.

Somali Relief Development Project - Rahma Hassan

Abdullahi will present, alongside youth living in Kristiansand, Norway, the important of taking your seat in society. He will talk about his experience working for the Ministry for Diversity and Integration in Norway.
